The 2000 Nordic computational differential equations circus

*****

Invitation

The 2000 circus happened in Bergen, Norway, March 10-11, 2000.

A tentative plan for the circus (below)

Welcome to Bergen to the Mathematics Institute of the University of Bergen for the 5th "Nordic Computational Differential Circus" on March 10-11, 2000. It is a good news that we have got rather good response for the meeting. We hope that the meeting will be interesting and stimulating.

The talks will take place in Auditorium Pi at the Mathematics Institute of the University of Bergen. The street address is: Johannes Brunsgate 12. The Auditorium is just beside the library when you have entered from Johannes Brunsgate. As part of the tradition of the meeting, we will not set up a program for the meeting now. If you plan to give a talk, please try to meet up at 13:00 on Friday March 10 in the Auditorium Pi. We will count the number of speakers and then decide the order of the talks by pulling your number from a box or a hat. Please feel free to decide that you will give a talk or not up to the last minutes before the meeting. From the information we have now, each speaker shall have 30 minutes for their talks. If you have difficulties to meet up at 13:00, please send us your name, the name of your institute and the title of your talk, we will pull the number for you.

Bergen is a beautiful harbor city beside the sea and surrounded by mountains. The crowded wooden houses and the narrow streets between the houses in the downtown area will remind you of the past time of the city. Beside the academic communications, it is sure that you will also have time to enjoy the beauty of the city (if the weather happens to be very fine). The university is in the downtown area and is about 500m from the central buss station. From the two hotels, it is easy to come to the institute by walking. Free maps for the downtown area can be obtained from the hotels and the central buss station.
