A Strongly Degenerate Convection-Diffusion Problem Modeling Centrifugation
of Flocculated Suspensions
Raimund Bürger and Kenneth Hvistendahl Karlsen
Abstract:
We prove existence and uniqueness of $BV$ entropy
solutions of a strongly\linebreak
degenerate convection-diffusion problem
modeling centrifugation of flocculated
suspensions. A modification of the generalized upwind
method is employed to solve the initial-boundary
value problem numerically, i.e., to simulate
the centrifugation process.
