What kind of PostScript to submit?
If you are using dvips on a UNIX, DOS or Windows machine, there
is usually no problem. However, if you use some other setup, there
may be a variety of pitfalls to avoid. Macintosh and Windows users in
particular should pay close attention to the various dialog boxes
associated with printing to get this right.
- Create ASCII PostScript, not Binary PostScript. Some
PostScript drivers will create binary files unless you tell them
otherwise. These are not as universally useful as ASCII
PostScript files.
- Create Level 1 PostScript, not Level 2. All PostScript
printers understand Level 1 PostScript. Only reasonably modern
printers understand Level 2 PostScript, and we have experienced
some compatibility problems even with printers that supposedly do.
