Strategic University Program
in
Computational Science and Engineering at NTNU

The rapid growth in the development of efficient computer hardware that has been seen over the past few decades has imposed an exceptional activity in the progress of vector and parallel computing, numerical algorithms, software design and development, and visualization. It is no longer possible for one person or scientific group to master all areas involved in making efficient simulation of large scale problems in engineering. For this reason, four departments from three faculties at NTNU have decided to collaborate in a project where the main objective is to enable NTNU to be among the leading centers for education and research in areas of Computational Science and Engineering of national importance for Norway. In particular, the efforts have been focused on a particular application area, that of design and analysis of fluid exposed marine structures. The program is financed by The Research Council of Norway
