The Department of Mathematical Sciences is a national center for teaching and research in the mathematical sciences. We are, through the mandatory basic courses in mathematics and statistics, substantially responsible for the quality of the engineering education for all engineering students. The department has been instrumental in promoting the development of NTNU's program for training of science teachers, and works actively to strengthen the recruitment of students in the sciences and technology. The teaching staff is enganged in research, covering a wide spectrum of subjects within mathematics, numerics and statistics, often with connections to the natural sciences and technological applications. We offer a broad range of courses.

  • Education of high school teachers,
  • International master degree in mathematics,
  • Master of engineering - Study program for industrial mathematics.
