The ride is slightly less than two hours.From Lillehammer to HornsjøFor participants arriving on monday, there will be arranged with a mini-bus leaving in the evening, and possibly a smaller taxi in the afternoon. The trip to the hotel is about 45 minutes from Lillehammer. The mini-bus will stop at Hafjell where there is a possibility of renting skiing equipment.Participants arriving at other times are asked to arrange transportation themselves. Skiing and equipmentThe Lillehammer mountains are renowned for their excellent conditions for cross-country skiing. Machine made trails are frequently made, short and long trips are possible. The mountains are relatively flat, therefore conditions are great for learning. Skiing can begin outside the door of the hotel. The lake you see on the map about midway between points B and A on the map is the lake of Elena and Brynjulf (Reinsvatnet). As for downhill skiing, the best location is Hafjell, about midway between Lillehammer and Hornsjø, at the place marked "Øyer" on the above map. These were the pists used for slalom and giant slalom in the 1994 winter olympics. Ski rental. There is a well equipped rental shop at Hafjell, it might be convenient to stop there on the way from Lillehammer to Hornsjø to pick up skis, boots, and poles if you did not bring your own.
