Arrival information
Most of you will arrive to Trondheim airport, Værnes, about 30 km due
east of the city.
The airport bus leaves every 15 minutes and takes
about half an hour to downtown. It stops in front of the largest
hotels. The fare is currently NOK 62. One can also travel by
train, arriving typically from Oslo to Trondheim railway station which
is situated downtown.
Rainbow Gildevangen hotel is situated downtown Trondheim
(see map here) at Søndre gate 22B.
Just north of the hotel, towards the fjord, is the railway station.
It is less than 5 minutes walk from the Radisson hotel from where the
buses depart to campus in the mornings at 08:30. Monday morning, a
local organiser will be in the reception area to point participants in
the direction of the buses.
Radisson hotel is situated downtown Trondheim
(see map here) at Kjøpmannsgata 73. The buses depart from outside
the entrance at 08:30 every morning. Monday morning, a local
organiser will be there to assist.
Elgeseter hotel is situated just south of the town
very near the campus NTNU
(see map here) at Tormods gate 3. On this map, the campus is
marked "Gløshaugen" and the conference location is south on campus.
You may ask the driver of the airport
bus to tell you when to disembark (it should be after it has passed
through downtown).
We assume that participants staying at
this hotel will walk to campus every day. In any case, Syvert Nørsett
will pass by the hotel Monday morning and can give info on how to find
the conference location. Also information will be left in the hotel
reception.
Trondheim vandrerhjem is the youth hostel situated east of
town, (see map here)
at Weidemanns vei 41. The airport bus comes in along Innherredsveien
from the east that you see on the map. If you want a lift to campus,
wait outside from about 8:30 in the morning for the conference bus
service (the bus leaves Radisson at 08:30 and should arrive at the
youth hostel a few minutes later. Walking is also possible,
direction towards campus: south(west).
Singsaker Sommerhotell is located near campus at
Rogertsgate 1,
(see map here).
If you arrive at Radisson hotel by the airport bus, you can
take a taxi or walk (ca 20 minutes) up to Singsaker.
To get to campus:
By taking for instance Øvre alle from the hotel,
you continue southwest until you cross the bridge over
Eidsvolls gate to enter the north end of campus.
Turn 90 degrees left and walk through all the campus until you
get to the natural sciences building ( Realfagbygget
), the open entrance is on the east side (left as you
approach).
Currency
The Norwegian currency is kroner, (NOK) the Euro is normally
not accepted as payment. June 24, 2003, 1 US$ was worth NOK 7.06,
and for 1 Euro you got NOK 8.16. See also

Conference location
The conference will be held in the new building complex of the Natural
Sciences (Realfagbygget). See
picture. Here is a map over the

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) is causing concern for

Trondheim is taking the SARS problem seriously.
