Macintosh Java Implementions

Until recently, all Macintosh Java implementations were slow and buggy. Fortunately Apple's Macintosh Runtime for Java 2.1 is reliable and reasonably fast. You may use it with either Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer (the minimal installation is fine), or with the sleek new iCab browser. As of April 1999, Netscape Navigator still uses its own buggy Java implementation, but I've heard that soon it too will be able to use MRJ 2.1.

Note: MRJ 2.1 is much better than MRJ 2.0. It's worth the (free!) upgrade.
