Jo Eidsvik I am an associate professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at NTNU.
|
Teaching:
I teach
one statistics class per semester. This can be one of the large undergradute
statistics courses we have at NTNU, or a smaller graduate class. I usually
supervise a couple of Master students per year, working on topics in spatial
and computational statistics. It is a pleasure to work with and learn from
progressive students.

Research:
My main
research interests are spatial and computational statistics, applied to the
earth sciences, in particular petroleum. I collaborate with PhD students and
international scientists. Today, it is common to acquire large spatially
referenced datasets (seismic, satellite, etc.). Statistical modeling and
inference for such data have immediate relevance. I also work on the value of
information in this context. Recently, we received the 2010 Best Paper Award
from Mathematical Geosciences on our paper ‘The value of information in
spatial decision making’. Projects: |
