My professional interests include numerical solution of ordinary differential equations on and off manifolds and computational science and engineering.

Background

• M.Sc. in Numerical analysis from University of Oslo in 1969. Thesis title: The numerical solution of stiff systems
• Ph.D. in Numerical mathematics from the University of Dundee, Scotland, in 1975. Thesis supervisor was Professor Jack Lambert. The thesis was entitled Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations.
• Current position: Professor of numerical analysis at Department of Mathematical Sciences, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway
