nLab CSS Garden

In the search for a "style" for the n-Lab, here's a CSS garden to play in. It's ever-so-strongly based on the CSS Zen Garden (indeed, I'm using a bit of their code). The garden itself is a page from the n-Lab copied here so that CSS stylesheets can be added at will.

To see the designs, simply click on a link below. If you want to come up with your own design, then you should download the basic file and a CSS template, either the default or you could start by modifying someone else's. Once you have something you think looks nice, send me a copy of the CSS (together with any pictures) and I'll put it up here (assuming that there's nothing seriously wrong with it).

Try not to modify the XHTML. Definitely don't modify the proper content, but if there's a modification that you would like to make to the extras (for example, the navigation links) then do so and I'll put such designs in a different list. Also, if there's interest I'll put up a copy of the "Edit page" as well.

Necessary but annoying niggle: don't send anything we can't use, in particular don't send anything that is protected from distribution by some copyright legality.

  1. Bare page: no CSS at all.
  2. Original n-Lab look: original instiki.css plus a couple of additions.
  3. nLab Theme: Bruce Bartlett's "Stylish" theme CSS.
  4. nLab -- nCafe style: Daniel Schäppi's "Stylish" theme CSS.
  5. nLab Theme v2: Toby Bartel's modification of Bruce's "Stylish" theme CSS.
