This is a copy of my letter to some officials
from your institutes, which
asked me about description of activities
during the midsemeter weeks.
Actually I have nothing to add
to this letter.
Hi,
I am planning to provide students with a kind of project which they are
supposed to do mainly
during these weeks.
The purpose of the project is twofold.
First I am going to include some questions related to applications.
Unfortunately the pensum of the course
does not let me as much time as
I wanted to discuss applications, this shortage is to be (partially)
compensating
during the project. I want to give the problems when the
students not just have to answer some mathematical question, but rather
to be able to formulate such questions starting from a descripion of some
mechanical/physical/chemical problem.
Another side of the project is just to prepare the students to the exam.
They will be provided with a number of
(more or less) standard problems,
correspondinig to the part of the course already taught. One of these
problems
is to be included to the final exam.
All problems of the project will be in frame ofthe course pensum.
At week 11 the answers to the problems will be posted on the website.
The results of the project (as well as those
of the midsemester
test which is to be at week 11) will NOT affect the final grade.
