Abstract: The Kac equation is a much simplified version of the Boltzmann equation, which, however, retains many of the fundamental features of the original equation: conservation of mass and energy, trend to equilibrium etc. I will talk about the Kac equation with an added term, a so-called thermostatted force field. This leads to intersting non equilbrium stationary states.
