Abstract: First, some general facts about the porous medium equation and the so-called evolutionary p-Laplace equation are presented. An interesting phenomenon is the presence of interfaces (free boundaries). Then, some joint work with J. Kinnunen is discussed; this is about the (spatial) gradients of supersolutions. At the end, the method will be illustrated in a very simplified situation (if time premits).
